From order to kitchen ticket
Customer places an order
Via your Shopify website, a QR code scanned at their table, or a staff member at the counter. All channels feed into one queue.
Shopify fires a webhook instantly
The moment an order is created, Shopify sends an HMAC-signed notification to your Rest-O-Pi OS server. Anything that doesn't check out is blocked.
Kitchen ticket prints automatically
The Raspberry Pi server formats the order — items, modifiers, table number, notes — and sends it straight to your Epson thermal printer. No one clicks anything.
KDS displays the live order board
The kitchen display shows every active order, colour-coded by status, on any iPad, Android tablet or browser.
Fulfilment synced to Shopify
One tap on the display marks the order fulfilled in Shopify. Inventory and customer notifications update in real time.

Questions we get asked
Does the kitchen still work if the internet goes down?
Yes. The Raspberry Pi server runs on your own network, so kitchen printing and the order display keep working through an internet dropout. Orders already placed keep flowing.
What hardware do I need?
A Raspberry Pi 5 running the Rest-O-Pi OS server, and an Epson TM-M30III thermal printer. The kitchen display works on any iPad, Android tablet or browser — no extra hardware needed there.
Do I need Shopify POS Pro?
No. Rest-O-Pi OS works with a standard Shopify plan — you do not need POS Pro to run it.
How long does installation take?
Once your Shopify store is ready, Rest-O-Pi OS is typically live within 7–10 business days, with 5–7 hours of on-site work to install the printer and display and walk your staff through it.
Is it secure?
Every order arrives through an HMAC-signed Shopify webhook, so the server verifies it genuinely came from your store before it ever reaches the kitchen printer.
